Plant of the Month – Abelia x Grandiflora
Plants that have become a common garden fixture, can occasionally be overlooked in favour of something new or even unusual, but sometimes old favourites such as Abelia x Grandiflora have remained popular for its versatility as it provides structure and soft pink flowers from early Summer to late Autumn and also has lovely glossy green leaves.
– It grows in most soils but does best in free draining soil and full sun will tolerate a bit of shade.
– It’s happiest when planted in front of a nice sunny wall .
– It is also semi evergreen so will keep some of it’s leaves during the Winter.
– Propagation: Plant semi ripe cuttings in a cold frame in Summer.
