Plant of the Month – Abelia x Grandiflora

Plants that have become a popular garden fixture, can sometimes be overlooked in favour of something new or even unusual, but sometimes old favourites such as Abelia x Grandiflora have remained popular for its versatility as it provides structure and soft pink flowers from early Summer to late Autumn and also has lovely glossy green leaves.

It grows in most soils but does best in free draining soil and full sun will tolerate a bit of shade.

It is also semi evergreen so will keep some of it’s leaves during the Winter.

Height 2.4-4m

Propagation: Plant semi ripe cuttings in a cold frame in Summer.
