Plant of The Month – Physostegia (Obedient flower)

Our plant of the month for September is the Physostegia (Obedient flower)

A Herbaceous perennial that is best suited to full sun – partial shade. This vigorous and ‘spiky’ plant with white, pink, or even purple flowers can have a unique presence in any garden, perfect for borders or beds. They also make for great cut flowers and are generally pest free!

Physostegia will grow in most soil conditions from clay to sandy loam.

If you have young children this is a great plant to have a bit of fun with because if you bend the petals of the flowers they will stay in that position hence that’s why its called the obedient flower!
